Len Forkas

Mr. Forkas founded Hopecam in 2002 after seeing firsthand the loneliness, boredom, and isolation his son endured while homebound and undergoing treatment for cancer. In an effort to changes things for other children going through a similar ordeal, he founded this nonprofit with the singular mission of connecting homebound children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses with their schools and classmates.

Len Forkas has over 20 years experience as an entrepreneur in the real estate development industry. In 1996 he formed Milestone Communities, a Reston, Virginia based land Development Company. Under Mr. Forkas, the company has developed land for retail, multi family and single family use in the Washington D.C. region, including a 2,000 unit, 900-acre mixed use master planned community in Germantown, MD named Milestone.

Mr. Forkas formed Milestone Communications, a wireless infrastructure working with schools, parks, and local governments to expand wireless coverage from Baltimore to Richmond. Milestone controls over 200 locations in the Washington region.

As Vice President of Bank of America's Special Assets Real Estate Division between 1991 and 1996, Mr. Forkas managed over $200 million in distressed real estate, performing workouts and foreclosures. He previously held positions with Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company and Oxford Development Corporation.

Mr. Forkas is a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and has been a member of the Executive Committee, serving as the Vice Chair of the District Council Program with responsibility for 52 District Councils in the USA and Canada.

Mr. Forkas received his MBA in finance from The American University and earned BA & BS degrees from the College of Architecture at Ball State University.
