Len Forkas to Climb Mount Everest for Children with Cancer

In April 2025, Hopecam Founder Len Forkas, will begin his journey to climb Mount Everest—not just for the challenge, but for something much bigger. Len is climbing to raise awareness and funds so that Hopecam can connect 5,000 more children battling cancer. Each milestone on his climb will be dedicated to a Hopecam child, because no child should have to fight cancer alone. Hopecam can connect more children battling cancer to their classmates.

Every year, 16,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer, and many of them face extreme isolation, missing six to nine months of school while undergoing treatment. Hopecam has already connected over 5,500 kids with their classrooms and friends, but thousands more still need our help.

100% of the donations cover the technology needed to combat the social isolation often experienced by children undergoing cancer treatment.

If successful, Forkas will become the fifth-oldest person to complete the Seven Summits—the highest peaks on each continent. But this is not his first attempt. In 2023, Forkas made his way up Everest, only to be airlifted off the mountain after developing life-threatening pulmonary complications. Now, he is returning with renewed determination to finish what he started and honor the children Hopecam serves. To read about his 2023 Everest Expedition click here.
