Hopecam Mt. Everest Honored Children

Len Forkas will dedicate each of his 25 stops during his Mt. Everest climb, to Hopecam children.

 

SAVANNAH

Stop 1: SAVANNAH - 1ST GRADE, YORKVILLE, IL

Hopecam has made a difference because Savannah is very excited when she gets to join in on her classroom’s morning meetings! Her teacher and classmates miss her so much, and she misses them so much, so it’s so nice for them to get to chat from time to time with the help of Hopecam!

 

ADALYNN

STOP 2: ADALYNN - 6TH GRADE, JACKSON, TN

Adalynn is looking forward to using Hopecam to keep doing school and seeing friends during her Bone Marrow Transplant. She loves school and her friends. She is thankful for Hopecam, which allows her to see her friends and feel somewhat normal even while separated.

 

MATTHEW

STOP 3: MATTHEW - 5TH GRADE, MONTVILLE, NJ

Matthew uses the Hopecam device at the clinic or hospital to complete schoolwork, watch videos, or read books. Cancer can sometimes be a lonely journey, and the Hopecam device makes it much easier. Cancer can be a challenging journey, and organizations such as Hopecam put smiles on the kids' faces!

 

AKAYLA

STOP 4: akayla - 12th grade, quitman, ga

Hopecam has saved her mom a lot of time going back and forth to school to make sure Akayla stays up with her classes by not missing work. Her mom is so proud of her because she continues to be strong through everything she has been through and keeps a big, beautiful smile on her face. Akayla would like for Mr. Len to know that his climbing the mountain to honor her and kids like her is so amazing.

 

ALISON

STOP 5: ALISON - KINDERGARTEN, GREEN BAY, WI

Alison's favorite way to use her Hopecam tablet is by playing learning games and watching videos that make her laugh. Hopecam helps Alison the most during her chemotherapy treatments by keeping her calm.

 

IAN

STOP 6: IAN - 2ND GRADE, STANSBURY PARK, UT

Ian's best friend is his dad and he loves playing Fortnite and Party Animals (video games). Ian uses his Hopecam during doctor appointments, on airplane rides, and while he's resting.

 

ARIEL

STOP 7: ARIEL - KINDERGARTEN, ALBANY, NY

Hopecam has made a difference as Ariel can see her friends and teacher when she can’t go to school. Ariel is still the bright young girl she has always been. She always has a smile on her face.

 

ANNABELLE

STOP 8: annabelle - 2nd grade, fort meyers, fl

Hopecam has allowed Annabelle’s family to have meetings and appointments with their medical staff when they were able to return home. Annabelle was able to finish homework and complete school assignments while using the Chromebook that Hopecam provided. Having a Hopecam also made it possible to stay connected while Annabelle was getting treatment with family members!

 

DOUGIE

STOP 9: DOUGIE - MARTINSVILLE, VA

Dougie is an A/B student and is well-known at his school for helping special ed students, long before he was diagnosed. He was even given his own award for assisting special-ed kids in his class. He is just an all-around great kid and is loved wherever he goes.

 

ARYA

STOP 10: ARYA - 1ST GRADE, Overland Park, KS

Arya’s favorite activity with her Hopecam is connecting with her class and seeing her classmates. “The fact that Arya can now see, hear, and talk to her classmates and friends—and be very close to what a real class experience looks like through Hopecam—is absolutely priceless. The smile this brings to her face, despite the very hard chemo days, is every parent's dream. We are so blessed to have stumbled upon Hopecam.”

 

ARI

stop 11: ARI - 2ND GRADE, HOUSTON, TX

Hopecam has allowed Ari to resume school online and continue to complete Grade 2, in addition to providing the flexibility to take it to appointments and when admitted. Ari’s family is so proud of his maturity in handling his diagnosis while still remaining positive.

 

ALEXANDRA

stop 12: ALEXANDRA - 5TH GRADE, LOCKPORT, LA

Hopecam gives Alexandra the opportunity to still be a part of her school and to interact with her classmates, even while in treatment. She was still able to preside over the 4-H meetings at her school and not miss out on being the president of the club. She gets to see her friends at school, which gives her a sense of belonging and helps her not to miss out on activities. It gives her back a part of her life when so much has been taken away.

 

DMITRI

stop 13: DMITRI - 8TH GRADE, BOUNTIFUL, UT

Dmitri’s favorite way to use Hopecam is to connect with my school. Hopecam has made Dmitri feel less isolated and alone. Most of his time is spent in the hospital, so you can feel disconnected from your life. He’s optimistic, witty, and charming. He’s a fighter!

 

HUNTER

stop 14: HUNTER - 5TH Grade, BUCKINGHAM, VA

Hunter’s favorite thing to do with his Hopecam is learn Sign Language. Hopecam has helped Hunter transition from public school to a more relaxed learning environment, which is good for his mental and physical well-being.

 

ADDIE

stop 15: addie - 2nd grade, palmer, ks

Addie’s favorite thing to do using the Hopecam is to use it for IXL and Lexia for school. She also added extra reading apps. The Hopecam tablet has helped her family navigate schoolwork for not just Addie but for three of their other kids while being away from school! It keeps her family connected with them.

 

JAYDEN

stop 16: JAYDEN - FORT CAMPBELL, KY

Hopecam has been a true blessing to Jayden and his family, as it allows him to connect and talk to everyone back home. Jayden uses his tablet to connect and self-regulate since he has autism as well as cancer.

 

DECLAN

stop 17: DECLAN - 5TH GRADE, Fuquay-Varina, NC

Declan’s favorite things to do with my Hopecam are look up information, watch videos, and play games. Declan has really enjoyed having his own Chromebook where he can use for school or entertainment…chat with friends or catch up on school work. “We love Hopecam and are so appreciative of all your doing.”

 

NAIRI

stop 18: NAIRI - PRE-K, Santa Clarita, CA

Nairi and her family have traveled from California to Memphis for her treatment, and she will use her Hopecam to connect with her grandparents, cousins, and friends. She says she misses everyone so much. Her family and Nairi will be following along with the climb and are excited to see the impact it will have for all the Hopecam children.

 

MILAN

stop 19: MILAN - EVERETT, WA

“Mr. Len, we are so grateful that you made this possible for so many kids. May God bless you always. Hopecam is amazing! My mom and I didn't have internet at home, but Hopecam made my days easier during my cancer treatment. I was happy to be busy at the hospital and have online classes. Thank you so much.”

 

VINCENT

stop 20: VINCENT - 1ST GRADE, Rolling Meadows, IL

Vincent’s favorite way to use his Hopecam is to find educational websites whenever he feels like learning. Hopecam has made an enormous difference, especially during the long hours at the hospital. It has provided him with distractions and comfort in some difficult moments. He’s excited to watch Mr. Len as he climbs Mount Everest!

 

DOMINICK

stop 21: DOMINICK - 1ST GRADE, Smithfield, NC

Through his Hopecam connection, Dominick is able to connect with his class virtually. His favorite part is joining circle time, where they sing songs, discuss what day it is, and do affirmations. He loves being able to participate in class while in the hospital. This has made a HUGE difference in Dominick's happiness, and he reminds his family each day when it's time to get on Hopecam.  “As his parent, seeing him smile and still be a part of his favorite activities makes me incredibly grateful to Hopecam.”

 

OLIVER

stop 22: OLIVER - PRE-K, Brownsboro, TX

Oliver uses his Hopecam to keep himself entertained during his long days of chemo and in the hospital. When he grows up, he wants to be a swim instructor. Hopecam has provided his family with the ability to help him learn schoolwork while away from home.

 

MASIE

stop 23: MASIE - Alexander, Ar

Masie uses her Hopecam tablet to play learning games and watch shows.  She wants you to know that she is very thankful to be a part of Hopecam! Hopecam puts a smile on Masie's face, even when she is not feeling well.

 

GIA

stop 24: GIA - KINDERGARTEN, Susex, NJ

Gia loves to listen to music and play games on her Hopecam. Hopecam has made a tremendous impact on her happiness. Gia is a warrior and has a fighting spirit, a fire that can never be broken or put out, no matter what she goes through!

 

DAVIAN

stop 25: DAVIAN - 5TH GRADE, LAS VEGAS, NV

Davian appreciates the internet access Hopecam provides during long hospital stays and hospital visits - it helps with stay connected. “Thanks, Mr. Len, for all you do for “us kids.” Please be careful on Mount Everest.” Hopecam has created a happy place for him—it allows him not to feel isolated and to be more a part of his normal life.
